Transition Black Isle is holding an Open Meeting in Muir of Ord to let local people know more about us and to discuss ideas you may have to make the local community stronger and more sustainable. Mike Atkinson suggested you might be interested in coming along – so you are warmly invited to attend and to share your views on how we can reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.
The meeting is on Monday 27 February at 7.30pm in the Pavillion.
For anyone who doesn’t know it, the Pavillion is next to the Bowling Club, behind the school. There will be a short film show followed by a break when we will be serving delicious home made puddings and then we will split into small groups to enable us to discuss various topics in more depth. Depending on demand, subjects might include food production and sales, energy issues, sustainable travel, waste.
Some ideas of projects that have been popular in other local villages are:- 1. Community composting scheme. 2. Time bank group – where you can “deposit” or “withdraw” your time by exchanging favours with other group members. 3. Growers’ Club – for keen veg growers to exchange notes. 4. A Car Club – where a club owns vehicles and individuals book them when needed, rather than everyone needing their own car.
Hopefully you have many more ideas of your own!
It would be helpful if you could let me know if you are planning to attend, so we can plan the catering. We look forward to hearing from you. And if you can think of anyone else who might be interested, please pass the invitation on to them.
Best wishes,
Martin Sherring Transition Black Isle
